Beauwood Kennels    began in November 1985 and is situated in the suburb of Wellard, South of Perth in Western Australia.

We began our interest in dogs with another member of the Spitz Breed the Pomeranian which we had for a number of years, but never showed them due to family commitments. Our love for the Spitz Breed grew stronger when we gained another family member "Keesha" a Samoyed which was our first introduction to the Show Ring.

Being smitten with the Spitz Breed we decided that we would like to show "The Keeshond". This was a little harder as no Keeshonds were currently being shown in Perth, however luck was with us and we purely by chance heard of a litter of Keeshonds just born at Vanderkee Kennels.

This was in 1989 and after many visits to Pat & Peter Brown at Vanderkee Kennels we were delighted when we took home Vanderkee Opal Oddyssey (Gemma). "Gemma" was our foundation bitch and went on to produce our first homebred Champion Beauwood Darth Vader (JAG).

Prior to "Darth Vader" being born we took home a male also from Vanderkee Kennels named Vanderkee Beau Satinwood (Beau). "Beau" was our first male to be shown and obtain his championship status and was a delight to own and a pleasure to show.

In 1991 we imported from New Zealand a bitch named Kaesark Veate Fer Rarri (Arri) who we titled and who later produced a litter.

The most recent lines to be introduced to Beauwood Kennels are the bloodlines of "Rymist Keeshonden" these kennels are owned by Kay O’Connell who has kindly allowed us to promote her lines and enable us to carry on showing this beautiful breed to which we say thank you.

Beauwood Kennels is a Registered Breeders prefix with the West Australian Canine Association to which it follows the "Code of Ethics" in accordance to the policies of the W.A.C.A.
